Manchester United are selling two players but have another six to ship out this summer

Manchester United have been football's biggest underperformers in the transfer market in the last 10 years, but a new era is under way and things can only get better.

The appointment of Dan Ashworth as sporting director was a coup and United's recruitment strategy will improve as a result, which points toward a brighter future. United did spend money with the Glazers as sole owners but it was spectacularly wasted and the hope is there will be fewer, or hopefully none, transfer flops going forward.

However, United have struggled with selling players just as much as buying quality players for value transfer fees, and the club's record of offloading members of the squad who have been deemed surplus to requirements needed to be improved simultaneously. Fortunately, with the new footballing structure in place, work has started on improving United's selling record already and good progress has been made at the start of the window.

Donny van de Beek's nightmare in Manchester seemed like it was never going to end, but a deal has been agreed with Girona that will bring the curtains down on his time at United.
