Manchester United and Galatasaray 'still in talks' over Donny van de Beek and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are continuing talks with Galatasaray regarding a deal for Donny van de Beek after rejecting a £1million deadline-day loan offer, according to reports.

Van De Beek has been expected to leave United all summer, having failed to register any level of consistent football since arriving in the summer of 2020. The Dutchman has had bad luck with injuries and made just 10 appearances last season, with only four coming from the start.

Erik ten Hag has been keen to trim his squad and the Daily Mail reports that Galatasaray are in talks after seeing a deadline-day proposal knocked back.

The Turkish transfer window doesn't close until September 15, giving their teams another two weeks to complete any late moves. Galatasaray are expected to remain in talks over a potential loan deal, having seen their initial £1m offer rejected.

Elsewhere, Alan Nixon reports that United were in the running to sign Sunderland star Chris Rigg before eventually pulling out of a deal.

The 16-year-old has attracted interest from a host of England's top clubs after impressing for Sunderland at under-18 and under-21 level. He made his first-team debut in the FA Cup last season and also came off the bench on Saturday, scoring the final goal in a 5-0 win over Southampton at the Stadium of Light.

United were said to be in talks for the teenager but pulled out of a deal due to Sunderland's high asking price. The Championship side were said to be demanding a fee in the region of £3m for their young star.
