Manchester United add seven players to Europa League squad

Manchester United have added academy youngsters Radek Vitek, Tyler Fredricson, Kobbie Mainoo, Zidane Iqbal, Shola Shoretire and Charlie McNeill to their Europa League squad ahead of Thursday night's match against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford.

United confirmed their 25-man squad for their Europa League campaign on Monday, but the academy youngsters have been added to the squad through the competition's B list, which allows unlimited players born after 2000 and who have been on a club's books for two or three years to be included. Anthony Elanga was not named on Monday but also qualifies for the B list due to his age.

UEFA's rules for the Europa League outline: "Each club is entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season. The list must be submitted by no later than 24.00CET on the day before the match in question."

That means although United have named just seven youngsters on the B list ahead of Thursday's match against Real Sociedad, other academy players can feature in the competition this season, as long as they are named on the day before the respective fixture.

Charlie Savage, who impressed Erik ten Hag in pre-season, is a notable omission from the B list announcement ahead of the Sociedad game.

Vitek, Fredricson, Mainoo, Iqbal and McNeill have all trained with the first-team this week. Vitek, Fredricson, Mainoo and McNeill are still yet to make their first-team debuts for the club.
