Manchester United academy graduates secure La Liga promotion after leaving club

Manchester United academy graduates Largie Ramazani and Arnau Puigmal will play in La Liga with Almeria next season.

Almeria were promoted to La Liga on Sunday evening after a 2-2 draw against Leganes. That result ensured Almeria were crowned champions ahead of Valladolid on goal difference and it ensured Ramazani and Puigmal will get a taste of top-flight football.

Ramazani, 21, spent three years at United and he left the left club in the summer of 2020 after the expiration of his contract. The winger made a total of 50 appearances in the academy and he managed to make his senior debut for the Reds in the Europa League against Astana in November 2019. Ramazani contributed nine goals and one assist in 32 appearances for Almeria this term.

Puigmal, 21, also joined United in 2017 but he left the club in the summer of 2021, one year after Ramazani's departure. Puigmal failed to make his first team debut at Old Trafford but he made a total of 61 appearances in United's youth ranks.

Just like Ramazani, Puigmal left United upon the expiration of his contract and he joined his former academy teammate at Almeria following his exit from the club. Puigmal contributed five goals and four assists in Almeria's league winning campaign.

On social media, both players' former teammates that are still at United praised their achievement. Anthony Elanga, Shola Shoretire, Alejandro Garnacho and Marc Jurado were among the players to react to their respective social media posts.

Ramazani and Puigmal were brought to United in the summer of 2017 by Jose Mourinho.
