Manchester’s only ‘accessible rave’ to return next month

The only ‘accessible rave’ in Manchester is all set to return next month. The Under One Roof summer party is all set for July 21, and takes place in the basement rave room at Charles Street venue Yes.

DJing will be The Fat Britney, one half of the Fatcamp DJ collective, who can be found ‘selecting… the finest camp, donk disco to indulge your inner silliness’, and were recently found playing at Salford festival Sounds From The Other City and at the Nell’s Bank Holiday Weekender last month.

They’re also resident at the likes of the PREACH club, and web radio stations Rainy City Radio and Steam FM. Fat Britney said: “If parties won’t make themselves accessible, we’ll throw our own. Smash every door in and put a ramp down! See you on the dance floor!”

The parties are open to disabled ravers, adults with learning difficulties, and their family and carers. They also boast a reduced venue capacity, allowing those in wheelchairs to move around freely, with the basement and toilets all fully accessible via lift. Tickets are priced at £4.

The Under One Roof parties have been running since 2019, taking place in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Glasgow. Among the DJs turning up to play have been the likes of Liverpool and Manchester icon Greg Wilson, Optimo’s JG Wilkes, and Homoelectric resident Gina Breeze.
