Manchester's 10 cheapest neighbourhoods to buy a property with house prices from £150,000
Over the last year, buying a home has become slightly more affordable - in comparison to the average income - says Halifax. New figures released by the bank this week show that the average house price-to-earnings ratio is now at 6.55, down from 6.62 last year.
Wage growth overtaking house price inflation was behind the cause of improvement in affordability. The average house price-to-earnings ratio has been steadily reducing since it reached a peak of 7.24 in the summer of 2022, Halifax said.
Data from Halifax's latest house price index found that UK house prices have however gone up by by 3.8 percent compared with a year ago, reaching an average of £292,508. But thankfully there are some parts of Manchester where you can buy a property for much cheaper that than.

Those wanting to live near to Manchester City Centre but can't afford the extortionate prices can find more affordable homes in some of the city region's neighbourhoods.
Using the Office for National Statistics data, Online Marketing Surgery and Cardinal Steels have ranked all the neighbourhoods in Manchester based on their average house prices, and have found the 10 cheapest areas where property prices start from £150,000.
The cheapest neighbourhoods are Harpurhey South and Monsall, where the average cost of a home is £151,000. Harpurhey North is the second most affordable area, with an average house price of £155,000.
Beswick, Eastlands & Openshaw Park are next, followed by Newton Heath, with properties in each area costing around £155,000 on average. The fifth cheapest neighbourhood is Abbey Hey, with an average house price of £160,000.
