Manchester pub closes and social media goes dark just six months after opening

A Northern Quarter pub has shut just six months after it opened to much fanfare. The boozer and grill-house Lamb of Tartary, opened at the former Cottonopolis site in March after the Asian-inspired restaurant announced its closure after nine years.

Coming from those behind the Edinburgh Castle in Ancoats, its named paid homage to The Lamb being born out of Cottonopolis. It was given a new refined finish with ornate panelling, exposed flooring, seated booths, and plant life.

It offered a completely new menu including grilled meat and fish as part of a variety of accessible British seasonal dishes spanning from brunch, small plates and Sunday roasts.

It had locally brewed beer on tap and also showed some live sport. Just a few weeks ago, it re-branded itself as L.o.T, offering another revamped menu.

But half a year after it opened its doors, the Manchester Evening News understands the venue on the corner of Newton Street and Dale Street has now closed.

The doors were bolted shut when the M.E.N visited this evening (Tuesday) It's social media pages have also disappeared. The M.E.N has contacted the venue for comment.
