Ambulance summoned to Manchester Airport following passenger's 'medical episode' on flight from Barcelona

A flight from Barcelona was given permission for a priority landing at Manchester Airport tonight after a passenger experienced a medical episode during the flight.

A Vueling airlines flight from Barcelona touched down at 8.48pm and it was met by an ambulance after it had taxied to Terminal 3, airport officials confirmed.

It follows a passenger reporting they were 'feeling sick' during the two-hour flight and the pilot of the Airbus A321-211 asked for and was given permission for a 'priority landing' where an aircraft is allowed to jump a queue of aircraft waiting to land, a spokesman for Manchester Airport said.

Airport officials said the passenger's condition was 'not serious' but the Spanish low-cost carrier was given permission for the priority landing as a precaution.

The spokesperson was unable to report the condition of the affected passenger. They stressed it was not an emergency landing, merely a priority landing.

The remaining passengers were said to have disembarked in the normal way.
