Manchester home raided as woman arrested amid counter terrorism investigation

Officers have raided a house and arrested a woman from Manchester as part of a counter terrorism investigation. The 32-year-old woman is one of 10 to be arrested this week in connection with an alleged attack at a business earlier this year.

A cordon has been in place outside a house on Larmuth Avenue, in Chorlton, and officers have been seen going in and out of the property. Images from the scene show the front door of the house broken, with tape used at the front gate and a police car parked outside.

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) is investigating an alleged incident which took place at defence technology firm Elbit Systems UK, in South Gloucestershire, in the early hours of Tuesday, August 6. Ten arrests were made in connection with the investigation on Tuesday (November 19).

The 32-year-old woman from Manchester is one of nine people arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism, contrary to Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000. They are six women, aged 19 to 40, and three men, aged 23 to 32.

Six of the suspects are from Greater London, one is from Liverpool and one is from Bristol. All nine remain in police custody for questioning, CTPSE confirmed today (Thursday).

Meanwhile, a 72-year-old man from Hull was arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He has since been released on bail.
