Manchester Culture Awards 2023 winners announced at 'incredible' event
Factory International, Manchester Museum and Hulme poet SuAndie OBE were among the winners at this year’s Manchester Culture Awards. Celebrating the best of culture and the arts in the city, the glamorous awards ceremony took place at Manchester’s newest cultural venue, Aviva Studios on Monday evening.
First launched in 2018 by the city council, this year’s event featured more than 400 nominations, chosen by the public and arts professionals, for awards spanning twelve categories including best event, best exhibition and young creative of the year. There were also three special recognition awards to recognise the cultural contributions three individuals have made in Manchester over the years.
This year’s ceremony also saw the announcement of The Manchester People’s Culture Award, a special award made in partnership with the Manchester Evening News, with the winner chosen entirely by public vote. The award was given by the judges to novelist and activist Qaisra Shahraz MBE

The judging panel this year included Jackie Kay, writer and Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Salford; Yandass Ndlovu, Artistic Director of I M Pact Collective; Pete Courtie, former Senior Relationship Manager Arts Council England; Councillor Luthfur Rahman OBE, Deputy Leader Manchester City Council; and John Rooney, Director of Neighbourhood Delivery, Manchester City Council.
Councillor Luthfur Rahman OBE, Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council, said: "Manchester is a city that literally mops up culture in all
