Manchester City's toughest fixtures left amid Liverpool and Arsenal Premier League title race

Manchester City are no strangers to title races as they aim to defend their crown and win Premier League for the fourth year in a row.

Last season saw them eventually finish five points ahead of Arsenal in the table after chasing down Mikel Arteta’s side throughout the campaign. It was part of City’s memorable treble-winning season under Pep Guardiola.

They show no signs of letting up this season. Although they are not currently top of the table, City are in the driving seat due to a game in hand that they have over rivals Liverpool and Arsenal in the league.

Guardiola’s side are in second place, just two points behind Liverpool at the top. Therefore winning their game in hand would put them above Jurgen Klopp’s side.

As with any Premier League season though, with 15 games left for City and 14 for their rivals, many more twists and turns are expected before the season is out. With that in mind, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at three of the toughest fixtures that lie ahead of City between now and the end of the campaign.

Derby games usually bring an air or unpredictability where the form book gets chucked out of the window, Man United have also showed good form in recent weeks which has reignited their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League at the end of the season. City have though come out victorious in five of the last six meetings between the two sides.

United currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table, six points behind Tottenham in fourth. They are unbeaten in four league games.
