Manchester City must rediscover killer instinct vs Arsenal

In football it is cliche to say that your next match is always the most important, but for Manchester City that is the case in their hunt for a record fourth successive Premier League title.

Ahead of Sunday's match, the Blues trail opponents Arsenal by a point with 10 matches left of the season. Pep Guardiola's side have failed to win any of their three top flight meetings with Arsenal and Liverpool this season. City were beaten on penalties in the Community Shield before a 1-0 defeat in October's reverse fixture.

But Mikel Arteta's side haven’t won at the Etihad since 2015 and breaking that duck would be an emphatic statement of their title credentials. The European champions have been hit by injuries with Kyle Walker and John Stone both out after limping off early in England's friendlies against Brazil and Belgium respectively.

Regardless of personnel, City must rediscover their killer instinct and show the attacking flair they displayed in the second-half of the Manchester derby. If City are to beat Arsenal they will have to be at their exhilarating best and key players will once again need to prove their class to overcome their title rivals.

Although there will be moments where the title race swings from one team to the other in the remaining nine matches, Sunday's match will prove pivotal in the Premier League title race. City will hope it swings things in their favour.
