Manchester aparthotel claims 'cancelled' Oasis reservations were due to 'huge overbooking situation'

A Manchester aparthotel has issued a statement after claims that Oasis booking reservations were cancelled at their venue.

One customer, with bookings with the CitySuites aparthotel, on Chapel Street near Manchester city centre, have claimed they received a notice through Booking.com, from the venue, informing them their reservation could not be honoured.

They logged on to book a room, one at CitySuites I and the other at CitySuites II, which is next door, for July 11 and 16 respectively, on the morning Oasis announced their huge comeback tour next year.

The Oasis fan, who said he'd been 'waiting 15 years' for the day the brothers reformed and was going to travel to see them from Anglesey to Manchester, claimed he payed £197.95 for one room, on July 11, and £167.13 for the second night, on July 16.

He has claimed that shortly after, he received a message from CitySuites, through the Booking.com app, telling him his booking could not be honoured due to 'unprecedented demand'.

"When you book in London, for Oasis performing at Wembley, there are so many other options and you can travel further from Wembley," he said. "But in Manchester, it's smaller and the demand is higher.

"But we've been waiting 15 years for this. It's a big day. Me and my partner were going to travel from Anglesey, in North Wales to watch them, because they're my favourite band.

"I'd gone on to book [the rooms] within seconds of the tour dates being announced. I knew I had to get on them early. It was hours later I got an email, that same afternoon, telling me it would be cancelled due to it being overbooked."
