Manchester Airport named among cheapest for a pre-flight pint and prosecco

It’s good news for holidaymakers who like to indulge in a pre-flight pint or glass of bubbly as Manchester Airport offers the second cheapest pint and prosecco out of the UK’s most popular airports, according to new research.

A pint at Manchester Airport will typically set you back £6.33. It was beaten only by Glasgow International, where you can grab a beer for £6.06 on average.

Both of them came in cheaper than the average cost of a pre-holiday pint at a UK airport - £6.75. If those prices have left you wincing, spare a thought for passengers at London Luton who need to fork out roughly £7.36 for a pint, placing the airport at the bottom of the list.

The research was conducted by luxury travel membership platform, Velloy. It analysed Google reviews and the drinks menus of 87 establishments across the UK’s 15 most popular airports in 2024 to create the Airport Pint and Prosecco Index.

While Manchester Airport didn’t top the list, it did achieve another second-place ranking: for the average cost of a glass of prosecco, coming in at £8.34. This was only 1p more than the cheapest average glass found at East Midlands International Airport and significantly cheaper than the average price across all UK airports - £9.59. Meanwhile at the other end of the list, a glass of fizz at Leeds Bradford will typically set you back an eye watering £11.38.
