Manager Robbie Holden hails level of commitment as seven sign on at Jeanfield Swifts

Jeanfield Swifts manager Robbie Holden did not want to hang around when it came to player contracts this season.

And that is why he was delighted that seven more of his Riverside stars decided to pen extended deals earlier this week.

The latest names to commit their future to the Perth club are Dayle Robertson, Olly Hamilton, Kieran Sweeney, Aaron Whitehead, Jamie Reid, Scott Mollison and Pat Brown.

Holden has been keen to get contracts tied-up so the focus can be fully turned towards the East of Scotland League Premier Division campaign.

“We have signed seven of the players up which is excellent and it’s great to see that level of commitment from the players,” Holden explained to the PA.

“We already have Jordan Northcott for next year and have more players to sit down with in the next week or so.

“I didn’t want that hanging over us in the new year so we can largely focus on finishing the season as strong as possible.

“I think it’s testament to the people at the club, the start to the season we have had and hopefully it’s a sign that people are happy and enjoying being at Jeanfield.”

Swifts, like all of their fellow Premier Division teams, were out of action last weekend due to frozen pitches across the land.

Now the determined second-placed Perth outfit is hoping, weather-dependent, to welcome Crossgates to the Riverside on Saturday afternoon.

Holden admits the winter period can be a challenging time with constant potential call-offs but that will not stop him having his team as best prepared as possible.

“We were in training last Saturday and had a good session to keep us going despite the poor weather,” Holden said.

“The temperature is set to increase later in the week so we are hopeful the Riverside is playable.
