The key name that United have been tied to so far this summer is FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, with the midfielder heavily reported to a move to Old Trafford, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Now a new Dutch name has emerged as a potential transfer to the red side of Manchester, with Feyenoord full-back Tyrell Malacia the latest player to be rumoured to be joining. It was apparent that Lyon had a verbal agreement in place with the young Dutchman, but United have now hijacked the deal in an attempt to acquire his services.

Tyrell Malacia was born and raised in Rotterdam, which has been his beloved home ever since. He was always gifted in terms of footballing ability, so much so that he was snapped up by Feyenoord academy at the young age of nine.

He had undeniable talent in his youth, he represented the Netherlands from an Under-16 level to the Under-21. He has now since progressed to feature five times for the Oranje, with him also looking ever likely to feature in Louis van Gaal’s 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

He’s adapted well to the Netherland’s five at the back wing-back role, which could give Erik ten Hag something to think about
