Manchester United's hunt for midfield recruits remains firmly ongoing as Erik ten Hag looks to address one of his side's problem positions.

No new faces were bought in last summer, a move which was criticised by some, and now the club have seen the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic leave the club. It has furthered their need to add quality in that area with Frenkie De Jong among their key targets.

Barcelona are potentially open to his sale, but there has been several weeks of rumours without movement thus far. Other options may have to be pursued whilst new additions in defence and attack are also on the club's radar ahead of a major overhaul.

These are the latest rumours from Old Trafford.

United have vowed they will not be used as Barcelona's "financial bail-out" in their pursuit of De Jong.

The Red Devils have had a £60million offer for Dutch midfielder De Jong turned down by Barca. Newly-appointed United boss Erik ten Hag is keen to make his former Ajax midfielder De Jong the first signing of his Old Trafford squad rebuild during the summer transfer window.
