Man Utd should grant Jesse Lingard transfer wish after two decades of service

Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard's loan move to Newcastle collapsed after the two clubs failed to agree terms.

The Red Devils are demanding a £6million loan fee plus a £12m bonus if Newcastle avoid relegation from the Premier League.

United also want the Toon to cover all of Lingard's wages - thought to be around £100,000-a-week - as reported by Mirror Football on Wednesday.

The deal could end up costing Newcastle more than £19m, only for the England international to become a free agent in the summer when his existing contract expires.

It's understandable why Lingard's proposed move has collapsed. The reported bonus demand is totally unreasonable.

According to The Guardian, the England international feels let down and disrespected by United's unwillingness to let him leave.

Lingard also believes the Manchester outfit are punishing him for not signing a contract extension last summer.

Lingard hasn't started a Premier League game for United in two years. He's made just 17 appearances for them in all competitions since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

When he is allowed to flourish, he's quite brilliant. During his six-month loan spell at West Ham last season, he scored nine goals in 16
