Man Utd's Bruno Fernandes appears to attempt to punch Southampton's James Ward-Prowse
It was another frustrating afternoon for Manchester United against Southampton.
Ralf Rangnick’s side produced a decent first half performance at Old Trafford and took the lead through Jadon Sancho.
However, for the first game in a row, they let their lead slip with an unconvincing second half display.
In fact, it took just three second half minutes for Southampton to equalise with Che Adams producing a fantastic finish past David de Gea.
The equaliser set the tone for the second half.
The away side grew in confidence and looked more likely to score the next goal for the remainder of the match.
The home crowd were getting more and more frustrated – and so too were the United players.
So much, in fact, that Bruno Fernandes was extremely fortunate he wasn’t sent off.
Fernandes tangled with James Ward-Prowse off the ball and appeared to swing a punch at the Southampton man. Luckily, he didn’t connect. If he did, it certainly would have been a red card.
The intent alone probably should have seen him pick up a booking but it went unpunished.
It certainly wasn’t a clever move but it perhaps sums up United’s frustrations right now.

A draw wasn’t enough to move United back into the top-four. Instead, another 1-1 draw has left them level on points with West Ham who currently occupy fourth.
