Man Utd predicted line-up vs Burnley as Ralf Rangnick confirms Jesse Lingard's status
Jesse Lingard is set to return to the Manchester United squad later tonight, with Ralf Rangnick confirming there are no issues between the pair.
The 29-year-old was left out of the FA Cup defeat to Middlesbrough on Friday after the interim boss claimed he needed some days away to “clear his head”, after failing to secure a January exit.
Lingard strongly refuted that accusation, stating that his “mindset was clear” and the instruction to not play was instead given by the club.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Burnley, Rangnick moved to quash any insinuation of problems between coach and player, whilst confirming he will be part of the travelling party to take on the Clarets.
“With regards to Jesse, I have a very good relationship with him,” the German coach explained. “He knows that I would have been willing to let him go - at least until the issue with Mason came up - and all the other things, I think we have spoken about.
“He mentioned some personal issues but again we have to look forward now. There are no problems whatsoever between myself and Jesse and vice versa. I'm happy to have him in the squad and, as I said, he will be a member of the squad for tomorrow's game."
Edinson Cavani is also available for selection, having been granted additional time off following the international break.
Lingard in particular is unlikely to start, having played just 88 Premier League minutes, whilst Cavani was also a substitute for their last top-flight encounter, the win over West Ham.
Paul Pogba is in line for his first league appearance of 2022 having impressed on his return from injury against Middlesbrough.
