Man Utd now 'looking at multiple options' for key position at Old Trafford

Manchester United are looking at a number of goalkeepers in the transfer window other than Kevin Trapp and Yann Sommer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Erik ten Hag has overseen a busy few months of business at Old Trafford but still has time to add to his squad ahead of the September 1 deadline.

According to Bild, via Sport Witness, United registered an interest in signing Trapp from Eintracht Frankfurt before the end of the summer window.

The report claimed that the Red Devils had already made an offer for the 32-year-old, but the player has now confirmed he turned down the approach in favour of remaining with the Europa League champions.

It is also understood that the Red Devils are interested in signing Switzerland international Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Sheth has previously told GIVEMESPORT that he was unsure whether the shot-stopper would accept playing second-fiddle to David De Gea with the World Cup on the horizon.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United number-two Martin Dubravka has agreed terms over a move to Old Trafford, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Sheth understands that United have goalkeeping targets on their radar other than the Bundesliga duo.

The Sky Sports reporter says that whoever arrives will need to accept being second choice to De Gea initially and taking his opportunities when they come.

Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: “I think that they have got other targets as well. I think they’re looking at a number of goalkeepers because it feels like this time, in this position, it’s a specific role. Who’s going to be satisfied to come in, initially as a number two, but given the assurances that, if they perform well then there’s a chance that they can play for the first team?”
