Man United forward Cristiano Ronaldo may miss his side's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur following his Manchester derby absence.

The United forward wasn't even in the stands at the Etihad Stadium as United fell to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to their bitter rivals on Sunday.

Reports have suggested the superstar forward flew home to his native Portugal after being ruled out with injury.

And he has now reportedly held 'showdown talks' with his agent Jorge Mendes as he plots his Old Trafford escape route.

But Ronaldo could be set to miss the tie with Tottenham Hotspur with the same injury that ruled him out last weekend.

It comes as United have suffered a blow in their hunt for their next permanent boss.
