There were ugly scenes at Old Trafford as Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League after losing to Atletico Madrid as Diego Simeone was pelted with bottles.

Joao Felix, who scored a bullet header in the first leg, saw a first-half goal ruled out for offside, shortly before Antoine Griezmann hooked a cross to the back post for Renan Lodi to head home the only goal at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. The 2-1 aggregate loss means United will end a fifth successive season without a trophy – and the club's fans reacted furiously to the result when the final whistle blew.

But the fans weren't the only ones upset as Cristiano Ronaldo was also visibly frustrated as United crashed out of the Champions League.
