Man Utd make £55m bid for ace with 'better quality than Pogba'; agent set for Old Trafford talks
Manchester United have reportedly made a bid to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, and his agent is now set for talks with the Old Trafford club.
Milinkovic-Savic is 27 years of age and was linked with the Red Devils during the 2018 World Cup. He can play as a central or attacking midfielder.
The Serbia international has been with Lazio since 2015 and has made 290 appearances, scoring 56 times and registering 51 assists.
He is valued at £63m by Transfermarkt and is under contract for a further two years, but it looks as if a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards under Erik ten Hag.
Sports Witness translated a claim from a local Rome-based outlet on Monday which suggested that Manchester United have tabled a €65m (£55m) bid.
The same site has now also shared an update from national Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, which suggests that Milinkovic-Savic’s agent is now planning talks with both United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Paul Pogba looks likely to leave the club over the summer when his contract expires at the end of June, so Milinkovic-Savic could be the perfect replacement for United’s club-record signing.
He can play in two midfield roles, has plenty of international and European experience and is seemingly in his prime at the age of 27.
Milinkovic-Savic’s agent, Mateja Kezman, believes the Lazio star actually has ‘better quality than Pogba’, so a summer swoop could be a smart move, providing a defensive midfielder arrives as well.
