Man Utd learn price to land fearsome Bundesliga star amid AC Milan transfer push

Manchester United have found out how much it will cost to bring RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku to the Premier League this summer, although AC Milan may beat them to the punch.

Nkunku came through Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before gaining promotion to their senior squad in December 2015. He went on to appear 78 times for the French outfit, registering 11 goals and four assists.

PSG sold the attacking midfielder in July 2019 as Leipzig paid €13million (£10.7m) for his signature.

And the 24-year-old has excelled since moving to Germany. He hit seven goals and provided 11 assists for his team-mates last season, helping Leipzig to finish second in the Bundesliga.

Nkunku has been even better this term. His record stands at 30 goals and 19 assists from just 44 matches so far. That includes a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League, as well as domestic braces versus Hertha Berlin and VfL Bochum.

It’s no surprise Manchester United are keeping tabs on the France international in case he may become available in the summer.

Reports suggest Nkunku could become one of the club’s first signings under potential new manager Erik ten Hag.

However, they will need to fend off Milan to secure his signature. According to a recent report from Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the star is one of Milan’s prime transfer objectives this year.

The Red Devils still have a chance to capture Nkunku though, and they have discovered how much it will cost to bring him to England.

German source Bild reveal it will take a bid worth £54m for Leipzig to let the player leave.

In comparison, Bruno Fernandes cost an initial £47m when joining from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020. However, the transfer had the potential to rise to £67.7m
