Man Utd hero tells Erik ten Hag which right back to sign in the summer transfer window

Former Manchester United defender Michael Silvestre believes Manchester United should sign Jeremie Frimpong.

MEN Sport reported last month that United have held talks with Frimpong's representatives about a move to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag is intent on signing a new right-back this summer to improve his options.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was made available for transfer last summer but no permanent offers arrived. He has since worked himself back into the first-team fold but lacks the attacking skillset Ten Hag desires.

Dalot is in talks over a new contract, with his current terms set to expire in 2024. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan have all expressed interest in the Portugal international.

Silvestre believes United should move for Frimpong if either player moves on. The ex-defender has reservations over his ability defensively but believes he would be a good addition for Ten Hag.

"I like Jeremie Frimpong," Silvestre told BettingExpert.com. "He’s very energetic and is good going forward. But again, the defensive side is not top, top-level.

“With Aaron and Dalot, it’s always a question mark, are they gonna defend well today? So if Dalot was to go, there would be a place for Jeremie Frimpong to join but it’s to be seen. We have to see what’s going on.”

Frimpong came through the Manchester City academy before being sold to Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutchman has two years left on his deal, which runs until 2025.
