Man Utd have ‘shown interest’ in £51m defender at Old Trafford

Manchester United have ‘shown an interest’ in signing Paris Saint-Germain wing-back Achraf Hakimi this summer, but the player is not for sale, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Erik ten Hag has overseen a hectic few months at Old Trafford but still has time to add to his squad ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline on September 1.

According to Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag is eager to add another right-back to his squad in order to provide Diogo Dalot with greater competition.

The report states that Aaron Wan-Bissaka had been offered to different clubs with the former Crystal Palace man seemingly second choice at Old Trafford.

Football Insider have since reported that PSG ace Hakimi has been targeted by the Red Devils as they look to bolster that area.

According to the outlet, the £170,000 per-week defender has been made a priority for Ten Hag following the arrival of midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid last week.

However, reports in Spain detail that Barcelona are also hoping to sign Hakimi this summer while Chelsea were understood to still be interested at the end of last season, after losing out to PSG a year ago.

The 22-year-old is not the only full-back targeted by United, however, with Barca’s Sergino Dest on their radar this summer too.

Brown understands that there is plenty of interest in Hakimi, who moved to PSG for £51 million from Inter Milan a year ago.

But the journalist says that neither Hakimi nor Dest are for sale ahead of the deadline, potentially handing United yet another transfer problem.
