Man Utd have 'been offered' £85m Premier League duo at Old Trafford

Manchester United have discussed signing Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans and Wolves’ Ruben Neves, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert has told GIVEMESPORT that the two midfielders have been offered to the Red Devils but they remain focused on trying to bring in Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.

Earlier this month, The Athletic claimed that United had reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign De Jong this summer.

The fee agreed is believed to be £63m, though that could rise after add-ons. The Premier League club, however, still have a lot of work to do, with the same outlet stating that they still need to convince the 25-year-old to move to Old Trafford.

If United fail to do that, reports suggest that they could turn to Tielemans or Neves.

According to talkSPORT, both midfielders are on their list of alternatives to De Jong, with the former expected to cost up to £35m and the latter £50m.

Romano says United have discussed Tielemans and Neves’ names because they are two players who have been offered to the club.

Speaking to GMS about the Leicester and Wolves stars, the Italian journalist said: “This has been discussed because it’s been offered to Manchester United, but it’s not something close or imminent and also for other players in that position.

“I think the real point with Manchester United, as of now in July, is to try and try again for Frenkie.”

Tielemans and Neves are two midfielders who have obviously proven themselves in the Premier League.

Combined, the Belgium international and Portugal international have made 262 appearances in the English top flight.

Neither would be a bad addition to a United squad clearly in need of midfield reinforcements, something manager Erik ten Hag has spoken about.
