Man Utd: Fresh update on pursuit of 244-goal striker at Old Trafford

As it stands, Manchester United won’t sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Kane’s future is expected to be resolved until the end of the season and United want to bring him to Old Trafford.

Despite uncertainty surrounding his future in north London, the 28-year-old has enjoyed another fine campaign for his boyhood club, scoring 23 goals and adding nine assists in all competitions.

As a result, Manchester United, who are set to lose Edinson Cavani this summer and potentially Cristiano Ronaldo, want Kane to solve their long-term problems up front and help them challenge for major silverware next season after failing to reach a final for the third time in four years.

According to The Athletic, Kane is United’s prime target in the upcoming transfer window, with the Red Devils desperate to sign the England captain even before Erik Ten Hag was appointed as their new manager last month.

Kane, who’s scored 244 goals for his boyhood club, still has two years left on his deal in N17, meaning Daniel Levy is still in a strong position, as he was this time 12 months ago when Manchester City were sniffing around.

However, despite the striker’s future hanging in the balance, especially with Spurs’ top four bid fading, Jones doesn’t believe that a move to Old Trafford is on the cards right now.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “On Harry Kane, there is nothing happening with him signing for Manchester United as it stands right now.

“It’s going to be extremely hard now, especially because Pochettino isn’t going to be the manager.”
