Man Utd could 'soon' make offer for £70m star at Old Trafford

Manchester United could make an offer for Ajax winger Antony soon, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

Talk of the Red Devils’ interest in the 22-year-old had gone quiet, but Jones says he is starting to hear noise about a potential bid going in.

According to talkSPORT, United are still hopeful of signing Antony this summer.

Prior, the Daily Mirror reported that a deal was in doubt after Ajax informed the Manchester club that the Brazilian would cost £70m.

Chelsea are also said to have registered an interest in Antony, complicating things even further for their Premier League rivals.

However, it appears that a move could be back on in a boost to Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman has worked with Antony before, suggesting that he is the one pushing for a deal to be completed.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that United could be about to make a fresh move to sign Antony this transfer window.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “I’m starting to hear noise around a United offer for Antony again. It had gone quiet recently but maybe they are going to push this soon.”

If Antony does leave the Johan Cruyff Arena this summer, Old Trafford will probably be his destination.

While Chelsea have something United cannot offer, Champions League football, the Brazil international does not seem to be a priority for them right now.

After losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, Thomas Tuchel is currently focusing on rebuilding his defence. The German has so far added Kalidou Koulibaly to his squad and is now waiting to see if his club can complete a deal for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

As well as that, Antony already has that relationship with Ten Hag, playing 79 times under the former Ajax manager.
