Man Utd, Arsenal learn chances of Victor Osimhen signing as 17-goal striker addresses rumours

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has spoken about his future amid transfer links with Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Nigeria international spent time at Wolfsburg and Charleroi before joining Lille in August 2019. He went on to register 18 goals in 38 matches during a single season in Ligue 1.

That form saw Napoli come in for his signature. They spent £67.5million to capture Osimhen, making him one of Africa’s most expensive players of all time in the process.

The 23-year-old hitman managed 10 goals during his debut campaign in Serie A. He has eclipsed that figure this season, notching 17 goals and six assists so far.

That is despite Osimhen suffering calf and cheekbone injuries this term.

Reports put Osimhen on the wish lists of Manchester United and Arsenal. Newcastle could also bid for him, although they have alternatives in Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Hugo Ekitike.

During an appearance on Italian station Radio Kiss Kiss, Osimhen spoke about his manager at Napoli, Luciano Spalletti, and whether he would remain at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

“Spalletti is a top manager and, along with his staff, they really helped me to improve my movement,” Osimhen said (via Football Italia).

“I hope to stay a continue on this road with the manager in the next few years.”

It seems Osimhen will reject approaches from United and Arsenal in the summer, even if they are lucrative ones.

Instead, the 18-cap international will stay in Serie A and aim to improve his goalscoring record even further.

Doing this could set up a transfer to one of the Champions League’s elite clubs in the next few years.
