Man Utd: £27m star's agent 'making noise behind-the-scenes' at Old Trafford

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is starting to accept that he is going to have to stay at Old Trafford this season, says journalist Jacque Talbot.

The 37-year-old is thought to be keen on a departure, and while Talbot says his agent Jorge Mendes is still trying to get him a move, time is running out with the transfer window closing this week.

According to The Independent, Mendes has returned to Chelsea to see whether a deal to take Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge is possible.

The above comes after reports earlier this summer claimed that the west London club decided not to pursue him after co-owner Todd Boehly had initially held discussions with Mendes about a potential move.

It is believed that Ronaldo is eager to leave Old Trafford due to United’s failure to qualify for this season’s Champions League.

The £27m-rated Portuguese forward is into the final year of his £480,000-a-week contract, though United do have the option to extend it.

Talbot has told GIVEMESPORT that Ronaldo is coming to terms with staying at United beyond this transfer window.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “I think there is a growing acceptance from Ronaldo and his side that he’s going to have to stay, but you can see that his agent’s making noise. He’s going back to these clubs and trying to figure something out.”

Looking at how United have performed in their last two games, where Ronaldo was left on the bench on both occasions, it is easy to say yes.
