Man United told how they can sign Liam Delap as transfer instruction sent

Manchester United have been advised that a bid of £60 million, coupled with a weekly salary of £150,000, could be sufficient to secure the services of Ipswich Town's star forward Liam Delap.

The 22-year-old has impressed this season with 12 goals in 30 Premier League matches for the Tractor Boys, positioning him as a prime target for Ruben Amorim's squad revamp during the summer transfer window, particularly to address their scoring shortfall.

Despite Ipswich's precarious position, teetering on the edge of relegation to the Championship, Delap reportedly has a £40million release clause in his contract. However, United would face stiff competition for his signature, with Chelsea, Newcastle, and Liverpool also showing interest in the former Manchester City youth player.

Even though triggering Delap's release clause might lead to a financial windfall for their city rivals, ex-United shot-stopper Ben Foster believes Delap would be an ideal addition at Old Trafford.

Speaking on his Fozcast podcast, Foster suggested that United might have to exceed the £40 million mark to outbid other interested parties.

"Where's Liam Delap going to go because he's leaving Ipswich guaranteed," said the former England and Wrexham goalkeeper.

"He's probably got ten teams looking at him in the Premier League, because he's a plan A for a few and he is an unreal plan B for a lot of them. It's going to cost £60m just because of his age. He's young, he's shown what he can do and he's aggressive. I think he'd be a fantastic addition for any of those teams.

"Man United could sign him and he would suit them down to the ground as well. When they're willing to pay you 150 grand a week, I think he'd go there."
