Man United takeover latest as Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'takes lead' amid Sheikh Jassim 'ultimatum'

Manchester United fans are longing for the Glazers to make a decision on the takeover process, and not one that sees them stay at the club.

Even David Beckham has come out to urge the owners to make up their minds so there can be more clarity for the Reds going forward under Erik ten Hag. MEN Sport understands Sheikh Jassim’s bid remains at the table despite reluctance from Avram and Joel Glazer to sell up.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe also remains in the race and last month admitted having his proposal turned down would be “excruciating”. Reports suggest he is planning a minority bid worth £2.5billion with the view of taking over the majority in time.

United fans want an answer soon and perhaps too do the bidders. However, one football agent believes the process may not be wrapped up until next year wile a recent report says the Glazers prefer Ratcliffe's latest revised bid.

A report from Bloomberg claims Ratcliffe is leading the way in the takeover race thanks to his revised minority bid, according to those close to the process. The British billionaire is supposedly in talks with the Glazers over the structure of the deal that would see him take an initial 25 per cent.

The club's board is set to discuss the proposal over the next few days with Ratcliffe's bid said to be favoured over Sheikh Jassim's, although all bids and options remain on the table. There is thought Sheikh Jassim could increase his bid in response with the Glazers thought to be closer than ever to making a decision.

These forthcoming talks are thought not to be decisive. However, any thought that the Glazers may stay in situ is sure to infuriate supporters.
