Man United take unexpected step for Nottingham Forest clash after ticket backlash

Manchester United have made the surprising decision to place tickets on general sale for this weekend's Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford. This update comes after huge backlash from supporters over ticket prices for members rising to £66 and the removal of concessions for children and pensioners.

Last weekend, fans of United, Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City all joined forces to protest against the rise in ticket prices and now it appears most have truly had enough. Part of the protest saw supporters from all sides raise a banner that read "Stop exploiting loyalty."

Despite the allure of new head coach Ruben Amorim, tickets are available on all four sides of the ground for Saturday evening's game. As quoted by Mail Sport, a spokesperson for the Manchester United Supporters' Trust said: "Tickets for league home games have been gold dust for decades.

"But fans have a limit and the fact Forest tickets are on open sale should make the club see that £66 tickets are a step too far. It’s time to reverse the decision and make sure Old Trafford remains as full as ever."

United initially confirmed the game against Forest was sold out. However, with season-ticket holders sometimes offering their seat to be resold to members, it soon became clear that some tickets would be available on an open sale.

Minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been deploying cost-cutting measures, which included the removal of Sir Alex Ferguson from his position as a club ambassador.
