Man United take down Ronaldo's huge mural at Old Trafford... but for valid reason

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo stole the headlines following his controversial and explosive interview with Piers Morgan on Sunday evening.

The Portugal star said that manager Erik ten Hag and others wanted him out of Old Trafford, in excerpts of the 90-minute interview that will be broadcast worldwide this week.

Ronaldo also claimed he feels betrayed by the United ownership and executives, as he feels they are forcing him out of the club.

The 37-year-old has been in the spotlight almost every week since returning to the Red Devils 15 months ago.

United have responded with a brief statement following the short clips of Ronaldo's interview and are biding their time to take action.

Meanwhile at Old Trafford, Ronaldo's massive poster in front of the famous arena has been removed which many think is a move by the club to show their dissatisfaction with the player's interview.

However, that appears not to be the case as the 74 310-seater stadium is set to host the Rugby League World Cup final this weekend. That competition's branding will be scattered all over the arena.

Australia and Samoa will clash in the final on Saturday (18:00 SA time) with the venue set to be filled to capacity.

There is also the factor that Manchester United have ran a campaign promoting the No 7 jersey with posters of former midfielders, Eric Cantona and David Beckham, who donned the famous number for the club, including Ronaldo.

Those posters have also all been removed from the stadium.
