Unlike Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester United are yet to agree any deals ahead of the summer transfer window, but that hasn't stopped them from putting in the groundwork on a number of deals.

Following a disastrous campaign, which could still be rescued by winning the Europa League, United are heading into their biggest transfer window in recent years. Done right, United could be on the path to being back. Done wrong and the vicious cycle that has kept them back for so long continues.

In reality, every area of Ruben Amorim's squad could do with improvements. Andre Onana is clearly not the Portuguese's first-choice goalkeeper, the defence will need attention with Victor Lindelof departing, Casemiro's recent resurgence shouldn't cover over the cracks in midfield and the less said about the attack the better.

"It's crucial. I think we are trying to do everything as soon as possible," Amorim answered when asked how important the summer is. "I think it's clear for everybody here that is going to be crucial and we have to take advantage of that.

"We need to do everything soon as possible to be prepared for having everybody for the pre-season to start after a season like this. We need to show something. That is not a debate. So I don't want that conversation of... 'we need a lot of time'.

"We need time, maybe to win the league, but we need to improve a lot after this season."

United have to simply do more than just the bare minimum this summer. Since the start of April, United's transfer rumour mill has gathered pace by the day with over 100 players linked with moves to Old Trafford.
