Man United make Viktor Gyokeres transfer move as ‘strongest interest’ claim made
Manchester United have already been active in the summer transfer window as they look for a more positive season in the 2025/26 campaign.
The season just gone was one to forget for United, with a 15th place finish and a loss against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final meaning that there will be no European football at Old Trafford next season.
That could be a blow for the club in the current transfer window. It, however, didn’t stop them completing a move for forward Matheus Cunha, who has signed a five-year-deal with the club.
The Brazilian is not the only new arrival expected at Old Trafford this summer as Ruben Amorim looks to shape his squad ahead of the new campaign. So, MEN Sport have taken a look at a couple of the latest stories doing the rounds over the last 24 hours.
United are the club showing the most interest in a potential transfer for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, according to reports in Argentina.
TyC Sports claim that the World Cup winner could leave Villa this summer, with United showing the ‘strongest interest. It is however added that there is yet to be an official offer from any club.
It is said that United first made contact with Martinez about a move back in January, but they instead opted to stick with Andre Onana as their first choice goalkeeper. Any deal for Martinez is expected to be expensive due to Villa’s high asking price.
MEN says: "Martinez has proven himself to be one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, or even in the world over the last few years. However, his form does seem to have taken a bit of a dip in the season just gone.
"Aston Villa are expected to put a high price on the goalkeeper’s head, and United will have to weigh up if he is worth
