Man United hold crucial transfer talks for priority signing as Viktor Gyokeres boost lands

Manchester United play their biggest game of the season, by some distance, tomorrow night when they face Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Despite not knowing whether they will be able to offer Champions League to their targets, United are pushing to land a number of deals before the window has even opened.

A huge boost in United's hunt for a new centre-forward has come from The Athletic with it claimed that executives have held face-to-face talks with Liam Delap over a move from Ipswich Town.

The 22-year-old, who has a £30million release clause in his contract at Portman Road, was given permission to travel to Manchester to hear out United's transfer proposal.

Chelsea continue to be linked with the striker and the report adds that he will enter discussions with all suitors before making a decision on his future.

MEN Sport's Josh Holland says: "Despite all the talk from some outlets on Viktor Gyokeres, United seem to be pursuing a move for Delap. At £30m, it's a bargain transfer and you can see why the club hierarchy are keen to get it over the line.
