Man United have the perfect welcome gift for Patrick Dorgu after January transfer

Manchester United can offer Patrick Dorgu the perfect welcome gift should they manage to sign the full-back from Lecce before the January transfer window shuts.

MEN Sport understands that United have been in talks with Lecce over a move for Dorgu this winter. Ruben Amorim has identified the full-back as a key target this winter due to the lack of left-sided players in his squad at present.

Lecce have insisted they are confident they can keep hold of their best players despite being caught in a relegation battle this season. However, Dorgu has sent a subtle hint that he is interested in a move to Old Trafford.

After Joshua Zirkzee posted a picture of the United fans celebrating victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage, Dorgu chose to like the post, which potentially was a nod towards his desire to sign for the Reds. If Ineos can complete this deal before the January window slams shut, they already know the perfect they can give the full-back.

Throughout his time at Lecce, Dorgu has chosen to wear the No.13 shirt. Often avoided by superstitious players, the Dane has decided to embrace it, becoming a key player for the Serie A club.

Fortunately, United would be able to gift him that shirt number on his first day as it currently remains vacant at the Theatre of Dreams. The last player to wear the shirt was former reserve goalkeeper Lee Grant.

Mostly goalkeepers have worn the '13' for United but it remains iconic after belonging to unsung hero Ji-sung Park between the 2005/06 and 2011/12 seasons.
