Man United have perfect shirt number to lure £33m Chelsea target to Old Trafford

Manchester United might have a sweetener to seal the deal in bringing Patrick Dorgu to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are reportedly linked with the 20-year-old left-back, who has been making waves with Lecce in the Serie A since 2023. Ruben Amorim's side are currently enduring a nightmarish Premier League season in 2024/25, languishing in 12th place with just eight wins to their name.

And the Portuguese coach will undoubtedly be looking to bolster the weaker areas of his squad in the current transfer window - especially given injury woes with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw. It is said that United had already submitted a bid for left-back Dorgu, but ultimately fell short of Lecce's £33million asking price for their young Danish talent.

Their president Sticchi Damiani has insisted that the side are not looking to sell him in the January window, telling Sky Italia earlier this month: "It's not yet time to go out on a limb about the names coming in, it's not official yet but there are a series of operations underway to complete a squad that deserves some tweaks.

"Even on possible exits, we've already said that the club is putting up a resistance, which I think is logical. We have an interest in keeping the players of interest for as long as possible, we have a complicated second half of the season to deal with. Then obviously there's common sense, but we're confident we can keep them."

However, it is said that Lecce are looking to swoop for a new left-back to bolster their ranks. The Italian outfit are said to have submitted a bid for Hearts defender Daniel Oyegoke, while they're also monitoring Danilo Veiga's situation with Estrela da Amadora.
