Man United handed Viktor Gyokeres transfer 'hope' after huge Arsenal update
Manchester United have been handed hope over Viktor Gyokeres after the latest update in negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting Clube de Portugal.
United have been consistently linked with Gyokeres throughout the summer, with the Manchester Evening News understanding that signing a new striker remains a top priority. The club have already strengthened their attack with new No.10 Matheus Cunha's arrival whilst a deal is still being worked on to sign Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo.
Gyokeres, who seemed destined fora move to Arsenal, may now have to look at alternatives if the latest reports are to be believed. Talks between Arsenal and Sporting are said to have stalled after a meeting, due to differences in overall valuation and contract terms.
Sporting are reportedly holding out for €70million (£60m) guaranteed, with no add-ons. Arsenal's offer is believed to be €65m (£56m) plus €15m (£13m) in add-ons.
The gap between Gyokeres' valuation and Arsenal’s offer is believed to be around €5m (£4m). According to The Mirror, who have cited reports from Portugal, Arsenal are willing to walk away from negotiations with Gyokeres and his representatives, 'fearing the worst.'
Meanwhile, The Sun has reported that Gyokeres will consider a 'worst-case scenario' loan move for the upcoming season. Juventus and Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce are reportedly monitoring the Swede striker's situation.
United could now look to make a move for the talisman following the breakdown in Arsenal’s negotiations.
Although Gyokeres hasn’t spoken publicly about the transfer saga, he has reportedly told the Portuguese club he will never play for them again in an effort to push the move through. This comes from the belief that Sporting have broken a 'gentleman's
