Man United handed 'perfect £20m transfer opportunity' as Brighton plan emerges
Manchester United are just a day away from another season-defining game as they host Lyon in their Europa League quarterfinal second-leg clash.
Ruben Amorim's side are locked in a 2-2 draw on aggregate after conceding a stoppage-time equaliser in France last week. The Reds will have home advantage on Thursday, though, as they seek a place in the semi-finals and a move closer to the final in Bilbao on May 21.
And United have been associated with a potential summer move for Lyon star Rayan Cherki as they eye another rebuild. Amorim's men have also been linked with a new goalkeeper in Brighton's Bart Verbruggen as their struggles in that position continue in recent games.
Below are some of the latest media reports and rumours from around Old Trafford as well as a view on each one...
United are reportedly 'willing' to meet Lyon's £20million asking price for Cherki this summer.
Claims in Fichajes state that Cherki's performances in recent months have seen him 'closely monitored' by United. The report adds that his future is uncertain for the time being.
Isaac Seelochan of The Manchester Evening News says: "Cherki would be an excellent signing for the price that is being quoted. The Reds desperately need more creativity in their side and the French forward has demonstrated that he can provide it with 18 assists across all competitions so far this season."
United are plotting a move to sign Brighton's Verbruggen in the summer, it is claimed.
Football Insider claim that United scouts have been keeping an eye on the shot-stopper’s performances for Brighton and the Netherlands. It is said that they are now prepared to make a move amid Andre Onana's struggles at Old Trafford.
