Man United handed double update in Matheus Cunha transfer pursuit amid Marcus Rashford claim

Manchester United will mostly be focused on an upcoming Europa League semi-final clash with Athletic Club - despite facing Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend.

Ruben Amorim's side have shifted their attention away from domestic affairs due to a disappointing 14th place position in the top-flight table, which rules out European qualification through the league. It makes winning the Europa League their only hope of salvaging an otherwise dismal season.

A summer rebuild is likely to take place at Old Trafford, with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha possibly their first new signing through the door. The Manchester Evening News understands that Cunha is "optimistic" that a deal could materialise, despite a potentially prohibitive £62.5million fee.

Alejandro Garnacho could, reportedly, be sold by United this summer. However, it is claimed that his fellow academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo looks increasingly likely to stay.

The club will need to sell some of their stars this summer as they look to wrap up a deal for Wolves' Cunha.

"Yes, we understand this to be highly possible - if proposals are deemed suitable by Man Utd and Garnacho himself," journalist David Ornstein said in his latest Q&A for The Athletic.

"As we know, exits for the likes of Rashford, Sancho, Antony, Malacia, Casemiro and Hojlund are plausible, while the salaries of Eriksen and Lindelof will leave the wage bill. There's a growing sense Mainoo will stay, although there is a contract situation with him that needs to be addressed."
