Man United four steps away from solving two transfer issues before deadline day

The summer transfer window is heating up in the Premier League as we edge towards deadline day at the end of the month.

Like all clubs in the Premier League, Manchester United will be looking to complete business both in terms of incomings and outgoings before the window ceremoniously slams shut on Friday, August 30. Unexpectedly, developments at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon could spark a chain of events which could solve a couple of issues for the Reds.

After his omission from the Chelsea line-up to face his former club Manchester City, the Daily Mail reported that Raheem Sterling is weighing up his options and could look to force an exit from Enzo Maresca's team. This development may have been unexpected but it certainly is not unsurprising.

Chelsea have a bloated squad and if Sterling is not in the plans at this stage of his career, there is little point in waiting around and hoping the tide will turn. This is all well and good but how would it benefit United?

Well, should the first step be taken and Sterling is sold Chelsea would miraculously look to replace him. Throughout the window, Jadon Sancho has reportedly been on the radar of the Blues and this is despite Pedro Neto signing last weekend.

Should a space open up in their squad and Sterling depart, Todd Boehly could be tempted to go after Sancho and the right bid of £40m would surely see United agree to a sale. The hatchet may well be buried between the winger and Erik ten Hag but you have to feel that a fresh start for Sancho elsewhere is needed.
