Man United fans have Bruno Fernandes solution to missing Cristiano Ronaldo vs Leicester

Manchester United fans have made clear their favoured solution after hearing Cristiano Ronaldo could miss Saturday’s clash with Leicester.

United return to action in the Premier League this weekend as they continue their battle for a top-four finish by hosting the Foxes at Old Trafford. They may have to do so without their talisman up front though.

Ronaldo was not among the 21-man squad that made their way to the Lowry on Friday night ahead of the game. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner played 180 minutes for Portugal during the international break as he helped his country secure their place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

While international team-mates Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have been seen back with United though, there has been no sign of Ronaldo thus far. Ralf Rangnick gave no indication of an injury during his pre-match press conference, having revealed Edinson Cavani was set for another spell on the sidelines.

But should Ronaldo also miss out, that will leave the interim boss with a big decision as to who leads his attack against Leicester. Marcus Rashford has of course played as a striker before, while Fernandes played as a false nine in the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, and United fans have made clear which option they would go for.

Should Fernandes lead the line against Leicester, he’ll be aiming to cap off what has been a fine week for him. The 27-year-old scored both goals against North Macedonia as Portugal qualified for the World Cup on Tuesday, before putting pen to paper on a new deal at Old Trafford.

The new contract extends his stay with the Reds to 2026, with the option of a further year. Fernandes will hope
