Man United can kick-start next phase of £100m transfer plan with Tyrell Malacia move
Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia's future could be resolved in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old's career at Old Trafford has never taken off following his £13million move from Feyenoord in 2022. Despite enjoying a fine debut season, helping the club win the Carabao Cup, a serious knee injury at the end of the 2022/23 campaign meant he was sidelined for 18 months.
After returning to first-team action against Bodo/Glimt in November 2024, he played a further seven times for Ruben Amorim before joining Eredivisie side PSV on loan for the rest of last season, where he was limited to just 12 appearances.
This summer, Malacia was one of five players to inform the club of his intention to leave. Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford were the others, with the latter making the loan move to Barcelona.
The left-back, who has been training with non-league side Trafford FC while awaiting a decision on his future, could soon be on the move. According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Atlanta are 'exploring' the possibility of signing Malacia, as well as Aston Villa's Ian Maatsen.
Should a move materialise in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, United will be hopeful that deals for Jadon Sancho and Antony will soon follow.
Sancho has been subject interest from AS Roma with the Serie A side contacting the club to discuss the terms of a loan. Antony, meanwhile, is open to returning to Real Betis, where he enjoyed a career resurgence last season.
Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has confirmed the club has not given up hope of re-signing the Brazilian.
Elsewhere, Rasmus Hojlund could see his playing time reduced following the arrival of Benjamin
