Man United can finally complete £110m signings with ideal striker free transfer
Manchester United could wrap up a deal for Bryan Mbeumo and one other Premier League star through signing a free agent that can, also, help Rasmus Hojlund.
Ruben Amorim is looking to bolster his attack, midfield and potentially goalkeeper department with the confirmed arrival of Matheus Cunha helping the former. Negotiations for Mbeumo have been ongoing for the last four weeks, with Brentford sticking by their £70million asking price.
United have thus far only been prepared to part ways with £62.5million - the same amount agreed for Cunha - as other funds are likely needed in other areas. Even if Andre Onana and Hojlund stay at Old Trafford, alternatives are being considered in the market.
Ollie Watkins, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike have all been linked after Arsenal made the decision to, formally, pursue Viktor Gyokeres. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is now a free agent after leaving Everton, is the latest name to emerge on the rumour mill of mooted interest.
With that in mind, it is possible United would also consider another experienced No.9 on a free transfer as Callum Wilson's exit from Newcastle United was confirmed on Monday. While also potentially being the ideal man to help Hojlund, the lack of funds used could help United for their remaining targets.
A portion of United's summer budget was likely being saved for their front-line, but it can go elsewhere if Wilson joins. That final £7.5million for Mbeumo should then be available with a bigger set of funds to go on someone like Emi Martinez.
