Man suffers 'life-threatening injuries' after being hit by van outside Co-op

A 92-year-old man has been left with 'life-threatening injuries' after being stuck by a van in Macclesfield.

The crash happened on Buxton Road, outside the Co-op store, at around 9.45am on Monday, March 4, Cheshire Police said. Officers responded to reports of a crash between a white Volkswagen Transporter van and a pedestrian.

The elderly man was rushed to hospital from the scene. The van driver - a 34-year-old man - was left uninjured.

Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. They also want to speak to anyone who has dash cam or CCTV footage.

Inspector Steve Griffiths, of Cheshire Police's Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This collision happened in daylight hours near a very busy road, so it is highly likely it was witnessed. If anyone did witness the incident or the lead up to the collision itself, I ask you to contact us please.

"Likewise, if you have CCTV in the area or dashcam that captured the incident it would really help piece together the events. If you have any information, we urge you to contact us via the website or call 101, quoting IML-1770105."
