Man stabbed in the back after early morning fight breaks out involving 'group of males' in Bury town centre

A man was stabbed in the back after a violent brawl broke out on a street in Bury in the early hours of Sunday morning. The fight, involving men in their 20s, broke out on Silver Street at around 5am (March 27) and then escalated, resulting in a 24-year-old male being stabbed in the back.

The Manchester Evening News understands that three males were later arrested in relation to the incident. Witnesses reported seeing the fight spill out onto a street in a ‘scuffle’. Passers-by told the M.E.N that they saw a man 'drop to the floor' before seeing 'blood everywhere'.

The fight first broke out outside the Venue cocktail bar, on Silver Street, at around 4.55am, and then continued along the road and onto Bolton Street. A large cordon was erected in the town centre on Bolton Street, outside the Blind Tiger pub, as well as side streets and remained in place throughout the day until around 2pm, as officers from Greater Manchester Police carried out searches and enquiries.

The incident comes just two weeks after 19-year-old Abdikarim Abdalla Ahmed was fatally stabbed in the chest in Bury town centre in an altercation involving two groups of youths - however the two incidents are not at this time thought to be linked.

Speaking to the M.E.N on Sunday, a business owner said: “This would be the third stabbing in the area in just three months. I don’t know what’s going on, it doesn’t feel safe anymore.

“I was here this morning and I couldn’t open my shop, just now they’ve let
